A vector graphic uses math to draw shapes using points, lines and curves. Vector files are infinitely scaleable and don’t lose quality when you enlarge the file.

Common types of vector files are fonts and logos. These files are usually created in programs like Adobe Illustrator.

Vector file format extensions include: eps, ai and pdf.

A raster graphic is composed of pixels or dots.

The most common type of raster graphic? A digital photograph. These are most commonly edited in Adobe Photoshop.

Raster file format extensions include: jpg/jpeg, psd, png, tiff, bmp and gif.

Placing a jpeg in a Word document or Powerpoint file is unacceptable and will not work.

Changing a file extensions name to .EPS does NOT turn the file into a vector file.
